Ayesha Takia was born on August 10, 1986 in Mumbai, India. Ayesha grew up in Mumbai, the center of the Bollywood movie industry. Her father is Gujarati, and her mother is half British and half Maharashtrian. Ayesha Takia grew up speaking English at home and had to learn Hindi for her film roles.

Ayesha Takia has been a photographic model since she was four years old. Ayesha Takia appeared in a music video, Phalguni Pathak's "Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye", when she was only fifteen. Her video "Shake it Daddy" was a hit.

Her video fame gave her the entry into Bollywood. Ayesha Takia signed a contract for Socha na tha, then for Taarzan: The Wonder Car. However, delays in making Socha na tha meant that Taarzan released first and was therefore her "debut" film. It is been just three years and Ayesha Takia has become the most sought after actress in Bollywood. She won the Filmfare Best Debut Award 2004 for her performance in Taarzan.

She listens to loads of trance, rock music, and also love Ghazals. Her favorite Indian artists are Ghulam Ali and Abeeda Parveen. Apart from listening to music, she enjoys listening to stories, reading, long drives, sitting at cafés over conversation with people she likes, and spending time with family, mostly with her mom. One way Ayesha Takia is a family girl. She is a pure vegetarian.

Her favorite actors from childhood are 'Aamir Khan'Newman' and 'Shahrukh Khan'. Her favorite actresses are 'Sridevi' and Rani Mukherjee. Ayesha finds there are many good directors, but she has always liked Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

She is a person who is very much attached to animals. Encourages people to stop using leather and other products which are tested on animals and to be kind to animals.

Ayesha Takia gave two flops this year -- Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota and Shaadi Se Pehle -- but her work in Nagesh Kukunoor's Dor was so phenomenal that it immediately got Ayesha Takia a place among the top 10 actresses of 2006. As a young Rajasthani widow, Ayesha instilled much pain, and hope, in her performance!

In 2006, Ayesha Takia was amongst the Top Ten on the listing of India's 50 Most Desirable Women Alive, a poll conducted by Zoom, an Indian TV channel. Ayesha Takia has never shied away from acknowledging her relationship with her boyfriend. Ayesha Takia has no qualms in admitting that she is in love with her boyfriend Farhan Azmi, son of a coal trader in Mumbai. Ayesha and Farhan have been seeing each other for pretty long now and the actress has already made it clear that marriage with Farhan is a possibility for her.
